The Camrose Trojans made the long trek to Rocky Mountain House Friday afternoon to play the Rebels. The Trojans Defence stifled the Rebels rushing attack holding them to under 100 yards on the ground. The Rebels went to the air however throwing for 278 yards edging out the win. The Rebels scored first through the air going up 7 – 0 then first year running back Dorian Gibbs got free and ran for an 80 yard touchdown to bring the Trojans back into the game. The point after attempt by Chandler Barore went wide. The Rebels added another touchdown through the air and with the convert the Trojans were down 14 – 6 with 53 seconds left in the half. Gibbs struck again with a 40 yard Kickoff return to put the Trojans into good field position. Five Plays later Griffon Lorenz scored on a QB sneak behind center Shane Bowles. Bowles was playing his first game as center taking over for the injured Jayden Neuman and played excellent rising to the challenge. The Trojans went for 2 points but it was no good. 14 – 12 at the half. The first drive of the Rebels was stopped when the throw went off the receivers hands right to Trojan Chandler Barore. Barore squeezed the interception and returned it deep into the Rebel territory. The Rebel defence stiffened and the Trojans were held to a Field Goal attempt that went wide for a single point 14 – 13. Trojan QB Griffon Lorenz got outside the Rebels defence and with a key block from Trojan receiver Aiden Brown, Lorenz was able to tiptoe down the sidelines for a 45 yard Touchdown run. The Trojan 2 point attempt was no good but the Trojans had their first lead of the night 19 – 14. Defences stiffened on both sides of the ball but the Rebel passing attack struck again late in the fourth quarter and with a successful point after the Rebels were back on top 21 – 19. Camrose tried a fake punt that didn’t fool the Rebels but a big defensive stand gave the Trojans the ball back with under 2 minutes to play. Matt Harland hauled in a 35 yard pass from Lorenz bringing the Trojans into Rebel territory but the Trojans were unable to convert and with no timeouts left the Rebels were able to kneel the ball out and secure the win.

Next game for the Trojans is at home under the lights Friday Sep 30 at 7:30 when we host the Stettler Wildcats.
