Trojans lose season opener to Wetaskiwin 20 - 0

The annual Highway 13 bowl stayed in Wetaskiwin. The score was not indicative to the play of the game. The Trojans marched the field on numerous occasions and got into the red zone 4 times but failed to reach the endzone. The Trojans rushed for 187 yards on the night with Nick Ioanidis doing the bulk of the heavy lifting. They also threw for 135 yards with a 48 yard completion to Aiden Brown. Wetaskiwin rushed for 198 yards but were held to only one catch for 13 yards. Jason Bennet was a standout on defence with 5 tackles and 2 assists. The Trojans were in the game down by 12 and driving in the 4th quarter but a great play by Wetaskiwn saw an interception returned for a touchdown. A successful 2 pt conversion brought their score to 20. The loss is tough, especially to our highway 13 rivals, but the play of our young team has us excited to see how we continue to develop.

Next up is the home opener when Drayton Valley comes to town. Game time is at 7:30 at Harry Andreason Field.

Go Trojans!
