Trojans lose to Sylvan Lake Lakers 32 - 12

The Trojans traveled to Sylvan Lake on Thursday September 21. Neither team had much success throwing the ball in the wet cold conditions. The Lakers got out ahead early and the Trojans offence struggled to put together drives in the first quarter. The offence was sparked by an 80 yard kick return by Trojan running back Nick Ioanidis. The Trojans got a drive going late in the second quarter but failed to convert on a crucial third down play turning the ball over to Sylvan Lake. It was 22 – 6 at the half. The third quarter saw the Trojan Offence continue to move the ball and Dorian Gibbs scored a touchdown on a run in the middle of the third. the Trojans defence held up well but the strong Lakers program was able to put up another touchdown and a field goal in the second half. The final score was 32 – 12 in favour of the Lakers. Standouts on Defence were Dylan Barton, Tynan McCarthy and Dorian Gibbs. McCarthy and rookie Brock Dalke cashed in on interceptions and Kieran Batke recovered a fumble for the Trojans. Nick Ioanidis cashed in on another 100+ yard rushing game for his second in 3 games. The Trojans look to bounce back against the Rocky Mountain House Rebels at home on September 28 at Kin Park.
