The Trojans are looking for a time keeper for tomorrow’s game. Our regular time keeper has a prior commitment. If you would like to help be being up in the booth (and out of the wind I might add) running the clock please contact Coach Belanger.
Due to the Referee availability the kickoff for our home opener against Wetaskiwin on Friday has been changed from 7:00 to 7:30.
We will be having a parent meeting at 7:00 at the field a half hour before kickoff.
Trojans lose to the Ponoka Broncs 25 - 15
The Camrose Trojans lost their season opener to the Ponoka Broncs on Friday Sep 7 in Ponoka. The Broncs led by a strong running game were able to distance themselves from the Trojans in the end. The Trojans opened the scoring with a Drew Loosemore Touchdown and followed with a Noah Seagal Field Goal to take a 9 – 0 lead. Ponoka completed a pass for a touchdown to limit the Trojan lead at half time 9 – 6. Ponoka came back to score early with a TD pass to take the lead 13 – 9. Loosemore found the endzone again at the end of a long drive to take the lead back for the Trojans 15 – 13. After the Trojans pinned the Broncs deep, the Broncs Running Back got free and ran the ball 105 yards for the go ahead points in the 4th 19 – 15. At the end of the 4th down by 4 points a Ponoka Field Goal attempt was blocked but Ponoka was able to scoop and score taking a 10 point lead into the end of the game.
Trojan standouts were quarterback Drew Loosemore who ran the ball in for both Trojan TDs and threw for 172 yards hitting 7 different receivers. Denton Robertson had 3 catches for 91 yards and contributed on Kick Return for 42 yards. Trojan Halfback Jason Bennet lead the team with 6 tackles and followed by Linebacker Terryl Sherman and Lineman Jesse Doutre with 5 each.
Next up for the Trojans is the home opener against the Wetaskiwin Sabres for the annual Highway 13 Cup. Game time is Friday at 7pm at Harry Andreassen Field.
Coach will show film after practice tomorrow for those who want to stay.
We are looking for a few parents to assist us with running the stick crew for our home games this season. We need 3 people per game to help out. Experience is not necessary as the ref crew will be there to help guide you.
It is the best non-seat in the house as you are the closest to the action.
We have 3 home games scheduled for the regular season plus any playoff home games.
